Honest Dentist
Main Post:
Every time I need some dental work I feel like I’m playing Russian roulette as the last two offices I visited screwed me over and overcharged me. Does anybody know of a decent dentist that charges fairly for somebody with no insurance?

Dentist recommendations?

IMO MINT is proving to be a complete waste of my money and benefits. I have PPO insurance, and can afford dental care...but not at double the price others charge. (The TV isn't worth it, promise)
Who do you use and how long have you been going there? Any side of town, all suggestions appreciated.
Top Comment: Dr. Bautista at Boxwood Dentistry in Bellaire - https://www.boxwooddentistry.com/ My brother recommended her. I've been going there for a year. She's done two cleanings, one extraction and one implant. I'm very happy with the implant.
Are there any dentists in town who aren't charlatans?

Looking for a reputable Houston dentist
Main Post:
YOU GUYS. I cannot find a dentist in the greater HTX area that isn’t trying to rip me off. I went to URBN dental and had the worst experience ever— they tried to sell me like $5000 worth of unnecessary stuff.
Now, every time i read a review of a dental office, i see similar things as URBN Dental— “they tried to force me to get a $500 deep cleaning“ they tried to sell me this, they tried to sell me that. omg.
Where can I go that they’ll just do my cleanings, fill any cavities for a normal price, and not rip me offffff. I’m so bad with confrontatio/telling people no and it always puts me in such an uncomfortable position when i feel like i’m being forced to buy things.
I live in the montrose area and work in pasadena. but idc, i’ll drive wherever i need to lol
UPDATE: i think im gonna try dr robyn at whole health dentisty— let’s see how this goes lol
Top Comment: Go to a dentist where the name is the dentist. Don't go to stupid trendy name places like URBN, Smile,, MINT, DRIP, ....

Hello, so I recently moved to Houston and Ive been having a few problems with my teeth. Bunch of cavities and a broken tooth. Long story short Im on the Aetna dental health plan and im a graduate student. I had an appointment for an x-ray today and found out about a lot of work that needs to be done. Mainly cavities and crown installations.
For the priority work, i will end up using up all my health plan benefits and will need to pay 2k out of pocket. If i want to do all the necessary work then im looking at around 7k. Im an international student and cant afford this at the moment, and im not too familiar with how health care works here in the US. This plan was given to me by one doctor, so i do still need to shop around i guess. But i was hoping to get some advice on what i can do. Any good dentists would be very appreciated, specially when it comes to getting crowns installed. Ones on the Aetna health plan that wont require me to sell my car would be great.
Edit: Oh im staying next to museum district, so anything close to that would be highly appreciated
Thank you 🙏

I need a low cost dentist asap!

For 20 years I’ve monitored my dental health with X-rays looking for wisdom teeth. The dentist never found any. Well surprise surprise a wisdom tooth has erupted at 45 years old. It’s coming in at a weird angle and it cracked the tooth in front of it and it broke. The dentist said the wisdom tooth was so deep in my jaw it couldn’t be seen. I need that broken molar pulled out stat. There are so many choices online. I need my Reddit people to give me advice on a low cost dentist in Houston. I’m not working right now. The pain has been constant for weeks and has aggravated my Post Orthostatic Tachycardia syndrome and it keeps making me faint. The dentist I saw was too expensive. He said if I have the broken molar removed the wisdom tooth will have plenty of room and won’t be a problem.

I would recommend UTHealth Dental school. Low or no cost depending on the program and students doctors are supervised the entire time.
Recommendation for cheap dental care please!

Hi everyone. I live in the houston area and I’m in need of a dental cleaning/exam. And im pretty sure I have a cavity. But I have No dental insurance. ): If anyone knows any low costs areas for cleaning and fillings please let me know!! Also, I’ve done some research and saw that some schools like Pima or HCC provide a clinic where their students work on you(cleaning, xrays, exam). If anyone has done something like that please share where and your experience! Appreciate everyone!
